Group Coaching

(15 ICF training hours)

Developing the Skills to Effectively Coach Groups

You already know how to coach one person well. But what happens when the real opportunity in front of you is a room full of people?

Group coaching multiplies your impact without multiplying your hours. Instead of five separate conversations, you have one conversation that creates growth for everyone in it. The group itself becomes part of the coaching. Shared struggles surface faster. Blind spots get named. Breakthroughs happen because someone in the group said exactly what someone else needed to hear.

This course prepares you to facilitate that kind of conversation with confidence.

You will learn how to:

  • Design a group coaching series that people actually want to join.
  • Structure sessions that move individuals toward real change.
  • Use the COACH Model® effectively when multiple people are growing at the same time.
  • Use spotlighting and cross-cutting questions to go deep without losing the group.
  • Practice the kind of active listening that holds an entire room while staying fully present to the individual in front of you.

Whether you are coaching people through a shared challenge, following up a training to encourage ongoing application, or gathering people around a common area of growth, group coaching gives you a powerful and flexible tool for the work God has called you to.

Christian leaders have discovered that coaching is not just for one-on-one conversations. The same intentional process that empowers an individual to live out God's calling works in a group, often powerfully, because people were never meant to figure it out alone.

Learning Through Instruction & Practice

Sessions are a balance of instruction, discussion, and skill practice. You'll see group coaching demonstrations by instructors, you'll coach and be coached, all with feedback and discussion. We'll go over the relevant ICF PCC Markers for how to coach at a PCC level. Skills learned can also apply to coaching individuals. Practice is emphasized so you move from knowing about these skills, to being able to do them.

Included Resources

Group Coaching uses proprietary materials designed to help you learn the mindsets and skills of a group coach and use them in with your groups.

We provide PDF copies for you to print for your use. If you're in the USA, we'll mail you a printed copy.
